Advice on Equipment

Fins – Whether long or short, fins must be light, flexible and soft. They must be swimming fins (not diving fins). Not all fins are equal i.e Speedo Bio-Fuse are too heavy and too sturdy. Very long fins are for diving and snorkelling. All swimmers need technical fins as that’s what we will use them primarily for in training.

Kickboards – Junior size for anyone 12 and under

Pull buoy – All in Junior Squad and below – i.e. swimmers 14 years old and younger should go for a Junior size. Senior Squad swimmers should choose a Senior size.

Snorkels – Finis are the best and replacement parts can be purchased.

Finger Paddles – Speedo are the best in terms of hassle free, durability and quality of straps.

Hand Paddles – ONLY FOR SENIOR SQUAD – TYR Catalyst Brites or Catalyst 2 are one of the best ones in terms of shape and feel for the water (they are not on Proswimwear Club shop). Size should be approx. 2-3 cm wider than hands. TYR official website provides a good guide and size chart. Junior squad will not use hand paddles in training.

Ankle Bands – Nabaiji from Decathlon online is the best in terms of length, or a cheaper option is to cut out an inner tube from a bicycle

Dyno band, /Theraband – look for the lightest resistance as bands will be only used for rehab and warm up work, not for resistance training (the colour coding is different depending on brand). Swimmers will use therabands daily as any other training equipment.
