I have been involved in swimming from an early age as used to swim for a local club, after competing I took up teaching and worked as a volunteer teacher/coach for a number of local clubs. I then was asked to take on a teaching and coaching role at Leander. I have now been with Leander for 15 years, during this time I have taught a large number of young swimmers. Some who have now progressed on to be regional, national or junior GB swimmers. Some have also become teachers within the sport.
I am currently the Lambeth swim team manager for the London youth games, which I have done for 20+ years and assist with a few disability swimming events.
Alongside my teaching and coaching certificates, I hold a diploma in sports psychology and have passed a course to work with children with educational difficulties/ disabled performers.
Along with my duties at Leander, I work part time and have 3 children 2 of who swim with the club, one who swims in the Academy and the other who trains in Gold squad.
I believe that swimming is a skill for life, which builds confidence, teaches discipline, keeps you fit and brings great friendships.
