What inspired you to start coaching?
I was inspired to become a strength and conditioning coach back when I was an athlete myself and picked up a career ending injury at the age of 17. I was, and still am, convinced that this was due to a lack of exposure to an athletic development programme to help me prepare my body for my sport. I believe that strength and conditioning is vital to developing strong, robust and successful athletes.
What is your experience?
I completed by BSc at Loughborough University and after taking a few years out to develop my coaching business, I am now undertaking my MSc in Strength & Conditioning at St Mary’s University. I have also picked up numerous other qualifications in strength and conditioning over the years. I currently work with a number of individual athletes from junior to senior and from amateur to international level. I have worked with a range of different sports from distance running and triathlon all the way to tennis, diving and open water swimming.
What do you like about Leander?
I came to Leander wanting a new challenge and I couldn’t have come to a better place. We have developed a club where athletes can reach their full potential, learning to train hard, race hard and have fun while doing it.
What are your goals?
My goal is to create robust, young athletes who are not only able to have a long career in sport, but also to love doing it.
