Leander Mission Statement
Our mission is to run a competitive swimming club, providing top-level coaching in a caring, professional sporting environment. We offer training sessions for different swimming abilities targeting International, National, Regional and County level competitions as well as improving our members’ health and fitness.
Our ASA licensed coaches offer scientifically proven training methods to enable swimmers to progress from our teaching groups all the way through to our elite performance squads.
We aim to work closely with other swim21 clubs and pool operators in order to develop swimming in southwest London.
Leander is an established, volunteer-run, competitive swimming club for children living in Wandsworth, Lambeth and surrounding areas of South London. The club provides swimming coaching for children aged 5 years upwards and at all levels of competitive ability. Swimmers in the club range from those just beginning to those reaching regional and national standards. We are proud to be the first Swim21 accredited club in Wandsworth.
What We Do
Our coaching team provides a full programme of training to all competent swimmers who wish to progress and swim in competitive events. We also offer excellent teaching facilities for younger and improving swimmers.
The Leander Swimming Club vision is to create an inclusive swimming club with a culture that seeks to maximise the individual potential of each swimmer. Each member of Leander learns values of sportsmanship and team work. The experience of swimming with the club should provide physical, emotional and health benefits that can be carried on through life.
Our club coaching sessions are held most days of the week at a range of pools in Balham, Tooting, Dulwich. If you would like to join or find out more, contact the club secretary.
Non-profit, run by volunteers
Leander is a non profit making organization – a Community Amateur Sports Club (as defined by HMRC).
As such the club is run by a committee of volunteers, no members of the committee receive any financial benefits.
These volunteers organize and pay for coaches, pool time and administration of the club together with all the other things necessary to run a swimming club.
The committee welcomes any parents who are willing to give up any of their time to help in the running of the club. We currently have parents who run the sale of Leander merchandise and who maintain the website for the club. If you would like to become more involved, please contact us.
