Leander had record breaking medal haul last weekend at the Royals meet. Our swimmers won total of 250 medals! There were 77 Gold, 90 Silver and 83 Bronze.
Our most successful swimmers were Oliver Veraas-Brown with 8 Gold, and 5 Silver medals and Mia Lee-Leslie with 8 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze.
Our swimmers also recorded 341 personal best times, not including first swims.
45 Club records were broken, Ben Findlay one in each of his 8 races, while Maggie Fairn and Kiera McArdle set 3 new club records each. Some of the records broken were long standing – the oldest more than 11 years old. Well done to all swimmers who competed and created truly strong team environment for all to enjoy. A great experience for all, especially those being new to Leander. This is our benchmark for the rest of the season; we can use the main events like the 200 free and 200 IM to gauge our progress through the rest of the season in technique and fitness.
We want this season to be the best ever for Leander. Our club goal is to get as many Surrey qualifiers as possible and improve our club ranking in the County. This will only happen attending all your training sessions and working hard!
